Trakx Weekly Update: May 26

Key Crypto Market Figures

CTIs Weekly Performance
Last week was a historic one for digital assets, with Bitcoin soaring to a new all-time high of $111,935 on May 23 before slightly stepping back to hover around $109,000 by week’s end. Our benchmark Top 10 Crypto CTI rose 1.9%, riding the momentum of the broader market rally.
The biggest winner among Trakx indices was the Trakx DEX CTI, which jumped 11.7%, reflecting booming activity on decentralized exchanges. Trakx Top 10 DeFi CTI also put in a strong performance, up 6.7% for the week.
The week’s weakest performer was the Trakx Recovery CTI, which declined -2.4% as investors pulled back from higher-risk assets after the sharp BTC run-up.
What’s behind this surge?
- Institutional investors are pouring in via spot Bitcoin ETFs like BlackRock’s, now surpassing $20B in assets, giving legitimacy and easy access for large players.
- Retail FOMO has reignited, with media coverage fueling buying momentum among everyday investors.
- Macroeconomic conditions—notably a weakening U.S. dollar and expectations that the Federal Reserve may pause rate cuts—have also increased Bitcoin’s appeal as a hedge.
- Add to that Bitcoin’s scarcity narrative (only 21 million will ever exist), which becomes even more compelling following the recent halving, and you get a perfect storm driving price discovery.
Some analysts now have their sights set on the $120,000–$130,000 range, though they warn of potential volatility after such a sharp run-up.
